The weekend of 24-26 January the local and international fashion-followers came together at the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam to celebrate Holland’s biggest fashion event; Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Amsterdam. This year the biannual event hosted their 10th birthday which gave us even more reason to indulge in the party atmosphere!

Although Amsterdam might not be considered one of the major fashion capitals, the catwalk shows certainly did not disappoint. Van Gogh inspired pieces at Mattijs van Bergen and edgy designs at Aziz Bekkaoui, Atelier MariaLux and Jan Boelo brought us into the Autumn/Winter 2014 atmosphere. We spotted celebrities at Jonathan Christopher Homme, got crazy at Marry Me-Jimmy Paul and went back to the sixties with SuperTrash. Jef Montes reminded us of summer with bright colors and flowers, Tony Cohen found a way to surprise us with another great collection whilst Winde Rienstra played with textures and shapes. On the Final day, Edwin Oudshoorn mixed edgy tartan with feminine maxi dresses and we went ’around the world in a day’ with SIS by Spijkers and Spijkers.

Other kept it quite with elegant cocktail dresses and off-duty looks. We spotted all Winter 2013 trends. From winter white to burgundy, from statement sweaters to pastel and faux fur.

In between all Winter 2013 trends and Autumn/Winter 2014 shows you might almost think we are skipping summer this year. But no need to worry because we are more then ready to throw out our winter wardrobes and bring in the new Spring/Summer 2014 trends! The upcoming season is all about mixing the girly-girl in you with a rock edge. Time to throw floral crop tops, pastel, lace and pleated skirts in the mix with boxy silhouettes, sporty bomber jackets and sexy mesh. A perfect SS’14 look for a casual day out would be a pastel summer knit paired with a pair of ripped jeans. For a lunch date, look for a feminine lace skirt and pair it up with sporty items like bomber jackets and trainers. When dressing for a more fancy affair, show some skin with a mesh skirt and a basic crop top.

Time to put this weeks amazing AW’14 designs in the freezer for a couple and months and get ready for a trendy Summer season!
